Riffstation - Guitar Chords App Reviews

I enjoy the visual flow of chords with the music though the chords it shows are the basic ones and not the nuanced ones like sus-chords, so youd have to tweak for that. Also, I was disappointed it couldnt find any song I could find, say, on YouTube and doesnt compensate by allowing you to upload mp3s (although I believe the desktop version, which costs something, does). Yet what should I expect for free, everything?

This is a great app for beginner-intermediate (or those of us fooling ourselves into intermediate players!) It has a lot of the songs I look for, many more than the full subscription to Tab Pro (I spent $25ish on TabPro and prefer Riff much more). Its fun to play along, and even if the screen isnt giving you the exact right chord, since its based on the actual YouTube song, your better version sounds fine. Its nice to be able to note your own changes on TabPro, but Riff is so much easier to use that its my go-to anyway. Happy Shredding - my fingers hurt in the best way!

Very nice real time chord movement...sometimes chords are wrong, but not often. Overall an A rating.

I am utilizing this app to learn new songs. It is easy to use as well as fun; however, could you please not require a login every time? Maybe remember login or even use finger print? It is the only thing for me that does not make this app 5 stars. Thank you for creating it.

FIX THIS LOG IN PROBLEM PLEASE! Yes Im yelling because this app would be perfect if I didnt have to log in every time!!

When I log in, it takes me to the first menu screen, then if I click anything, it flips back to the login page. Nobody else seems to be having this issue, so im not sure if its just me.

Just found a new band I like and heard one of their songs I wanted to learn. Normally for me it takes listening to a song a lot to be able to pick out the chords, with this app It not only allowed me to play it with the video the first time through but by adjusting the capo in the app to also change the chord structure to something more fitting to a beginning guitar player.

When I first started using Riffstation, my only improvement was I wish you had more genera and more songs- now that I see that happening e.g. Celtic or Irish genera...and uke

I mostly tune my guitar one semitone down. D#G#C#F#A#D# ... So it would be a help if you add this feature... The App is great otherwise.. Great Going... Love it

I love this app, but I cannot fathom why I have to manually log in every time I use it. An annoyance that should be eliminated.

I really like this app and its also helpful for learning hard songs. I just wish it had more videos of some songs.

This app really helps you when you are learning to play guitar. The notes of the song and their chord shapes scroll by and you follow along and before you know it you have got some decent practice time on your instrument. I spend an hour or so a day and it really breaks the drudgery of practicing pentatonic scales and modes.

...and boom chickas etc. I love this app. It allows me to play along while I improve my guitar skills, showing where the chord changes occur.

As a pastor with limited piano ability this app has given me the ability to asp and my skill set. Further I had recently bought a guitar and this is giving me the ability to learn at an accelerated rate. Every musician should have this app. Dr. R.M. Bare

I highly suggest using this if you are a rocker and cant find chords. I personally was looking for chords for "Bohemian Rhapsody" by the forest rangers and couldnt find chords. The only reason that I didnt give 5 stars is because from time to time the chords are not correct and that they dont have a list of chords.

The app is great at how it shows cords and timing, but what about strumming pattern? Plenty of songs I would like to learn have the same cords, with of course different timing or even same timing but with different strumming patterns and for beginning and decent players its sometimes hard to literally ear the strumming to how the song is. But sometimes you just cant get the sound quite right.. So hopefully they can focus on the strumming patterns as well. Other than that the app is good.
